“It has been my greatest honour to represent my country and my state, Karnataka. However, all good things must come to an end, and with a grateful heart, I have decided to retire from all forms of Indian cricket. Thank you all,” he posted on Twitter.
Uthappa was part of the country’s 2004 Under-19 World Cup team. He made his India debut two years later and featured in 46 ODIs and 13 T20Is for India.

Robin scored 934 and 249 runs in ODIs and T20Is. He has 9446 first class and 6534 List A runs under his belt.
Uthappa has won two IPL trophies—one for KKR and one for CSK in 2014 and 2021, respectively. Robin Uthappa received his first national call-up at the tender age of 20.
The swashbuckling right-hander finished his international career as one of the biggest underachievers in the history of Indian cricket. Besides being agile with his footwork, Uthappa had all the shots in his armoury to end up as a great in limited-overs cricket.
Uthappa was drafted into the Indian ODI team as an opener at the start of his career.
When India had the likes of Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, and Gautam Gambhir in the setup, he was asked to do the finisher’s job. Uthappa batted at number six and seven on 14 occasions in his ODI career.
He scored 298 runs at an average of 37.25 with a strike rate of 99.33. Considering the era in which he played, these numbers are nothing but staggering.
Robin Uthappa-IPL T20 Career
Playing for RCB, Uthappa delivered numerous standout performances in the IPL 2010, scoring 374 runs at an unbelievable strike rate of 171.56 in the tournament.
Robbie was dropped and never recalled into India’s T20 team after averaging 81 and striking at 135 on the Zimbabwe tour.
He went on to have a successful run with KKR, where he got the orange cap in one of the seasons as well. In 291 IPL T20 games, the last of which he played in the 2022 IPL for CSK, he scored 7272 runs.
Robin is one of the few to play all 15 seasons of the IPL and finishes with 4952 runs in 205 IPL games, striking at 130.35 and averaging 27.51.
Uthappa also won several domestic titles with Karnataka. Has won the IPL twice- with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 and with Chennai Super Kings in 2021.
Robbie also played for Pune Warriors, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.
