Arsenal is in talks with OGC Nice for the loan of Nicolas Pepe.

Nicolas Pepe’s agent Louis Ferrer, shared a photo from Ligue 1 side Nice’s Allianz Riviera Stadium last weekend, with Footmercato reporting that the 27-year-old is “interested” in a loan move to Ligue 1 side OGC Nice after his agent held a meeting over a potential switch.

To confirm with multiple sources, the deal is coming close to being agreed upon.

Arsenal signed Nicolas Pepe for £72m in the year 2019, he was a player in demand for Lille then. Arsenal clinched him under the noses of many big European clubs for a club-record £72.9 million transfer fee.

Those at Arsenal believed that they were getting one of the most exciting talents in world football, with plenty of potential for them to unlock in a tricky and powerful winger that appeared perfectly suited to life in the Premier League.

But his tricks and skills couldn’t make a significant impact on Arsenal, Arsenal fans were impressed more by their youngsters than the Ivory Coast international.

Pepe’s time at the club has not gone as expected, especially given the money they paid for him. However, he did win the FA Cup with the Gunners in 2020, beating Chelsea 2-1 in the final where Pepe assisted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s second goal of the game.

Nicolas Pepe Stats at Arsenal

In three years at Arsenal Nicolas Pepe has scored 27 goals and bagged 21 assists while making 112 appearances.

Pepe made over 40 appearances in his debut season for Arsenal, managing 16 goals and five assists. But later on in his 2nd season, he slipped down in the pecking order with the youngsters – Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli surpasses him in the starting lineup.

Pepe is moving to Italy to find his lost form and to move on from a failed spell in the Premier League.
