Board of Cricket Control in India has taken a revolutionary decision in women ‘s cricket by announcing equal match fees for men and women cricket. This historical decision was announced by BCCI secretary Jay Shah. He has confirmed the news.
Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary announced this news through Twitter, saying it’s the first step to tackle discrimination. Women’s cricket, which is not given much priority like the men’s cricket, now sees encouragement. It’s a new step towards the growth of Women’s participation in cricket.
According to the new policy, like men cricketers, women cricketers will receive INR 15 lakhs for a test, INR 6 lakh for an ODI and INR 3 lakh for T20I. This historic move is appreciated by the former Indian Women Captain Mithila Raj.

Currently, the Indian Women Cricketers are getting paid INR 1 lakh for an ODI and T20I. And for the Test they are getting 4 lakhs per match. This decision will usher in the development of the Indian Women Cricket Team and encourage women to play cricket.
“I’m pleased to announce BCCI’S first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing a pay equity policy for our contracted BCCI women cricketers. The match for both Men and Women Cricketers will be the same as we move into a new era of gender equality in Indian Cricketers,” Shah announced on twitter.
Mithali Raj, former captain appreciating this tweeted, ” This is historic desicion for women’s cricket in India! The pay equity policy, along the WIPL next year, we are ushering into a new era for women’s cricket in India. Thank You Jay Shah sir, and the BCCI. for making this happen.
At present there are no changes for BCCI’s annual retainers for women players.
