David Silva

David Silva had his say on the Ronaldo vs. Messi debate. He made a statement in 2013 that resurfaced on the internet after United’s 1-0 loss. Real Sociedad beat United 1-0 at Old Trafford in the UEFA Europa League game.

David Silva was playing for Manchester City, and is also regarded as a Club legend. He was an integral part of the core team which guided Manchester City to glory. Manchester City won their maiden premier league title in 2012.

“I prefer those two (Messi and Ronaldo). They are such great players and they are at the highest level, but I think Messi is the best. He shows every weekend that he is above the rest.”

Messi

There is much debate over which one is the greatest forward of all time. Messi has won seven Ballon d’Or during his career compared to Cristiano Ronaldo’s five.

However, the Argentine has not been nominated for the prestigious award this year, whilst the Portuguese forward has.

David Silva never came up against a Manchester United icon during his time at the Etihad Stadium.
The Portuguese departed from Manchester in 2009, and the Spaniard signed for the Blue Half in 2010. And now, after a decade since that, the Spaniard departed City in 2020 and Ronaldo made his sensational return to United in 2021.

Ronaldo

Ronaldo started last season in great fashion. On the other hand, Messi struggled to make a significant impact for Paris Saint-Germain. This season, tables have turned-with United missing out on Champions League football, Ronaldo was on the verge of a move away from Old Trafford.

But his move away from Theatre of Dreams couldn’t capitalize and they kickstarted the campaign with horrible defeats to Brighton and Brentford. This resulted in Ronaldo moving to the bench from starting XI and In Ligue 1 , Messi is finding his feet and improving his performances day by day.
