I thought I wouldn’t knock him out, but it didn’t matter; I submitted him. So the most important for me was to finish the fight, and I finished the fight. I am finishing my last fight. I enjoy here, but I knock a striker out now that I finish a finisher in the ground.” Says Topuria.
Topuria wants his Next Fight against Brian Ortega
“I prove everyone wrong, and I show everyone my skills. I told everyone I was better than him and struck the ground. So, I will show it right. I show better skills than him in striking. I show better skills than him on the ground. And I finished him in the second round.
So what else? I didn’t have to say anything else; you know my performance is talking for me. So I want a title shot next. So I want to fight with Brian. It’s been like a dream since I was a kid, and I want to bring that UFC event to Spain. It will be amazing for me to headline that event.” Says Topuria.

Ilia Topuria beats Bryce Mitchell by submission with an arm triangle choke at 3:10 of Round 2 On Saturday night, the 25-year-old Georgian opened UFC 282 with a stoppage win against Bryce Mitchell. He forced Mitchell to tap out in the second round.
Mitchell won the opening round, giving him confidence for the second despite Topuria’s dominance in standing exchanges. Topuria, though, was unaffected. In the second round, “El Matador” damaged Mitchell while standing, then took him down with a ragdoll takedown, moved into side control, and choked him out.
Next week’s rankings may place Topuria in the top 10. He should remain a top featherweight contender. Topuria is 13-0, 5-0 in the UFC.
