Rishabh Pant will not participate in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. Since Rishabh Pant cannot play, the Delhi Capitals currently do not have a solution for their wicketkeeper issue and Sarfaraz Khan is in talks to take up Wicket Keeping duties for Delhi Capitals.

The decision on who would succeed Rishabh Pant as wicketkeeper for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2023 edition of IPL has yet to be made. The Capitals have built their squad around Pant. Suppose he is injured or otherwise unable to play. In that case, they will need to get another Indian wicketkeeper to fill the void left by Pant.
Pant has been a significant contributor to the DC squad since he joined and has played a substantial role in each season since his arrival. He is a skilled player who can contribute to the team’s success with both the bat and the gloves. The wicketkeeper who will replace Pant has to be on the same level as him.
Sarfaraz Khan Is The Only Backup Keeper
The DC lineup for the IPL 2023 has yet to have any other specialist keepers, except Pant, which might be detrimental to their performance. There have been media rumors that the squad may request that Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan wear gloves if it becomes essential.

Although Sarfaraz Khan can retain wickets, he has yet to gain experience in domestic cricket. He needs to be a lock to make the starting lineup for Delhi’s XI. Phil Salt is another player who might be considered for the DC squad; however, Salt only occasionally plays for his home club or the Hundred club; Salt in the center would destabilize the international lineup.
The Times of India stated on Wednesday that a source said, “The middle-order needs an impacting Indian batter now.” Meanwhile, the squad will seek a good batter or a wicketkeeper from their own country.
Rishabh Pant Suffered a Horrific Car Accident
Rishabh Pant was involved in a terrible vehicle accident that resulted in the tearing of ligaments in both his knee and his ankle. The District of Columbia is in a precarious situation since he will have surgery and is expected to spend anywhere from three to nine months on the sidelines. DC’s assistant coach Ajit Agarkar has already dropped hints that Phil Salt would be the goalie for Indian Premier League 2023.
“A batsman and a wicketkeeper, Phil Salt is an exciting player to watch. Although Rishabh Pant, who is both a wicketkeeper and a batter, serves as our captain, Salt has the potential to contribute to the side as a batter. Meanwhile, Ishant Sharma was born and raised in Delhi and had a wealth of professional expertise.” Agarkar said.
