Virat Kohli was emotional as he knelt on the ground and punched the grass in delight before gratefully looking to the skies and thanking the almighty with a raised finger.
Chasing down 160, India were in a spot of bother after losing four wickets for 31 in 6.1 overs before Kohli and Hardik Pandya bailed the team out of trouble. The pair added 113 runs for the fifth wicket as the contest went down to the wire, where India held their nerve and got over the finish line, recording a famous victory against their arch-rivals.
“It’s a surreal atmosphere, I have no words, no idea how that happened. I am really lost for words. Hardik believed we can do it, if we stayed till the end. From 28 in 8, it came down to 16 to 6. I tried to stick to my instincts. The first one was a back of a hand-slower ball (the one over long-on). Standing here I just feel like it was meant to be. Till today Mohali was my best innings against Australia. Today I will count this one higher. Hardik kept pushing me. The crowd has been phenomenal. You guys (fans) kept backing me and I am grateful for your support” said Kohli at the post-match interview after receiving his player of the match award

This is what Hardik Pandya said in the post-match press conference
“Those sixes from Virat Kohli were the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed, they were extremely crucial at that stage of the game. Else we would have had to do something more terrific,” said Pandya in the post-match press conference.
But he was also quick to point out how the experience helped their team, manoeuvre through the tough periods. “We have been in this situation earlier as well and all we had to do was believe in ourselves. I’ll use my brothers’ line even impossible says I am possible” said Pandya who scored 40 off 36 balls.
