Brazil end their world cup journey in the quarterfinal round after their heartbreaking loss to the 2018 world cup finalists Croatia once again make it to the final four of the FIFA World Cup. Croatia win the game from the jaws of defeat.

The game was a closely contested one with both teams failing to score a goal in the first 90 minutes. Neymar broke the rut and scored a goal in the 106th of the game as Brazil were cruising for yet another world cup semifinal appearance.

Croatia then made key substitutions in the last 10 minutes of the game. Bruno Petkovic coming in as substitute scored the game changing goal in the 117th minute. Bruno made a right footed shot to the right of Brazil goalkeeper Alisson Becker who dived to his right but missed to stop the goal.

The game was down to penalties. Croatia won their round of 16 game in penalties and were confident of winning it again. Interestingly Neymar didn’t take a penalty shot.

This is the third time on four occasions that Croatia managed to reach the semifinals when they have qualified from the group stage.

The loss is Brazil’s 4th loss at the quarterfinal stage in their last 5 world cup quarterfinal appearances. European nations have eliminated Brazil in their last six knockout stage matches.

Neymar after his team’s penalty loss broke down in tears as he once again comes short of winning a world cup for his nation. The entire world is in shock after Brazil’s loss. Neymar’s team faced a similar fate in the previous World cup’s but this one hurt the Brazilians’ a lot. Neymar made his comeback despite ankle injury and scored a goal which all thought was match winning goal. Neymar’s efforts go in vain as their shooters and goal keeper couldn’t help him out in achieving his life long dream.
