Jitesh Sharma Earns His Maiden Call Up For the National Team
Jitesh Sharma earned his maiden call-up to the squad and will meet with them Thursday morning in Pune. This is the first time Jitesh has been picked. During the first Twenty20 international, Samson reportedly injured his left knee while fielding a ball close to the boundary ropes. This information comes from the BCCI. This afternoon in Mumbai, the BCCI Medical Team took him for scans and a specialist’s advice. After that, they pushed him to rest and undergo therapy.
On Tuesday, Samson reportedly injured himself in the 13th over of Sri Lanka’s first Twenty20 International. His knee got trapped in the grass while trying to slide at a deep third to avoid a boundary. Samson raced from the field at that time.

Samson’s performance could have been better, as he only scored five runs in India’s two-run win against Pakistan. Pathum Nissanka was one of the players he dropped in the first over of Sri Lanka’s chase.
Jitesh has been chosen in India’s squad as a wicketkeeper cover for Ishan Kishan for the following two T20 Internationals. This is true even if Samson didn’t wear wicketkeeping gloves for the first Twenty20 International. Jitesh had a solid season with Punjab Kings in the previous IPL, scoring 234 runs in 12 matches with a strike rate of 163.63.
Before the IPL 2023 auction, the franchise elected to retain 16 players, including him, he has frequently been the team’s finisher. Vidarbha’s Jitesh had a great 2022 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In 10 games, he had a 175.00 strike rate and scored 224 runs.
Due to Samson’s injury, Rahul Tripathi will debut at his home stadium. Tripathi has been on the road with the club for some time but has not yet played.
