Chennai had a pretty average outing last time around and failed to qualify to the playoff’s for the 2nd time in 3 years, majorly due to the team’s players being old and slow on the field. CSK could win only four matches out of 14 and finished ninth in the points table last season. They tried out Ravindra Jadeja as their new captain, but the experiment failed.
MS Dhoni took over the captaincy duties from Jadeja after a couple of games. Still, the team could not qualify for the play offs. Dwayne Bravo, 39, CSK’s star all-rounder has not been retained by the Super Kings. His current age and the diminishing performances are the reasons for his exclusion
“In Dwayne Bravo’s case, age was definitely a factor”

Speaking about Chris Jordan, who took crucial wickets for England in the knockout games of the recently concluded T20 World Cup, Viswanathan said, “Our experience has shown that Jordan has not done well in the Indian conditions during the IPL.” he added
After releasing Bravo, Jordan and Milne, CSK have INR 20.45 crore remaining in their purse so they may look to add some talented youngsters and impact players to their squad at the upcoming IPL 2023 auction. There is a high chance that Sam Curran, who was named the ‘Player of the Tournament’ at the 2022 T20 World Cup will be bagged by the Super Kings.
