She first achieved the third rank on the bowler’s list in November 2019.
Sharma gained ranking points, due to good performances in the ongoing Asia Cup in Bangladesh.
She grabbed three wickets against Pakistan and two each against Bangladesh and Thailand, overtaking South Africa fast bowler Shabnim Ismail and now only trails England spinners Sophie Ecclestone and Sarah Glenn who are ahead of her.

Sharma has also moved up one slot to 35th among batters and is ranked third among all-rounders after overtaking Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner.
India’s Renuka Singh (up three slots to eighth), Sneh Rana (up 30 places to 15th) and Pooja Vastrakar (up seven places to 28th) have also progressed in the rankings for bowlers.
Deepti Sharma was surrounded by controversy last month when she ran out Charlotte Dean of England.
In the 44th over, Deepti found Dean leaving the crease before she released the ball and thus ran out her to help India beat England by 16 runs and complete a 3-0 clean sweep over England for the first time in England.
Charlie Dean was walking out of her crease repeatedly even after issuing her a warning.
“It was our plan because she was doing it repeatedly. We had also warned her. So, according to the guidelines of the rules, we did it,” said Deepti Sharma. (Sportz18.com)
