Portuguese right back Diogo Dalot has impressed his new boss Erik Ten Hag and revives his fortunes with the premier league giants. Dalot has been one of the most improved players this season for Manchester United. He is enjoying a fine run of form and will become a free agent by the end of the season. Ten Hag impressed with Portuguese right back
Erik Ten Hag has hailed Dalot for the improvements he has made this season. Speaking to Sky Sports after United’s win over West Ham in their premier league fixture, Ten Hag credited Dalot’s performance.
“I’m really happy with the development of Diogo [Dalot]. His defensive positioning is growing from game to game, his time, also duals, are better from game to game and in possession I think he’s really good.”, Ten Hag said.

Ten Hag added, “He has the breath to go up and down [the flank] so the development is really good, but I have to mention, I think a club like Man Utd need two good full-backs because we have a lot of games to cover.”
Diogo Dalot’s turnaround with form
Diogo Dalot joined Manchester United from Porto when Jose Mourinho was in charge. Dalot struggled for minutes under Mourinho and his successor Solskjaer. A loan move to AC Milan in 2020/21 to get more minutes and improve the game didn’t help his cause on returning back to Manchester. Dalot saw himself more to be out of United than to be there and continue for another season.
We can safely say that Ten Hag has brought out the best of form from Diogo Dalot. Ten Hag preferred Dalot to be the first choice RB over Wan Bissaka and Diogo is rewarding him with improved performances. Dalot is now a key part of United’s defence. The 23 year old has credited Ten Hag for his improvement this season.
When Dalot was asked about his manager’s influence after the game against West Ham : “You always have something that you can add on to your game and obviously the help of this manager and the confidence that he is bringing to me every single week and every single day is helping me to be a better football player, a better man as well. So I’m very happy with the confidence that he is giving me and what I want is to give him back on the pitch with games like this [West Ham], moments like this and I think this is the way it should be.”
What next for Dalot?
Diogo Dalot is in his final year of contract with the Red Devils. Other European giants like Barcelona and AC Milan have showed interest in acquiring his services. Meanwhile United has an option of triggering one year extension. The club is evaluating all options and there are no signs of wanting to move out from the player side. If everything goes as per current situation, we can see Diogo Dalot beyond this season with the Red Devils.
