Between 2001 and 2004, she held reporting jobs at various news networks before ESPN employed her for ‘ESPN National Hockey Night.’ Later, she was designated as a sideline reporter for ‘ESPN College Football Saturday Primetime’ and at Big Ten college basketball games.

Early Life & Childhood

In Lewiston, Maine, on May 4, 1978, Erin was born to Steven and Paula Andrews. Her father is a television journalist who has won six Emmy Awards, while her mother is a teacher. When she was five years old, her family moved to San Antonio.

Then, after her father was hired as an investigative reporter by NBC affiliate WFLA-TV, they moved again, this time to Valrico, Florida. In addition to Erin, the Andrews have a younger daughter named Kendra, who works as a professional dancer and actor.

She grew up watching NBA games with her father, where she developed a fierce loyalty to the Boston Celtics. She was motivated to become a female sportscaster by the careers of Hannah Storm, Melissa Stark, Lesley Visser, and Suzy Kolber.

She received her education at Bloomingdale High School in Valrico, Florida, where she served in various roles, including student body president, dance team member, and member of the National Honors Society. She pursued additional schooling at the Brandon School of Dancing Arts in Seffner, Florida, in addition to her conventional education. She did not have many female friends in high school since she was a tomboy and preferred the company of boys whom she talked sports with.

Andrews enrolled in the University of Florida after completing her education there in 1996 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications there in 2000. Erin Andrews spent the first several years of her career covering regional sports teams for Turner South network in Atlanta after doing freelance work for Fox Sports Florida. In April 2004, she started working for ESPN, covering the National Hockey League for “ESPN National Hockey Night.” She also covered the “College World Series,” “Little League World Series,” and “Great Outdoor Games” as a reporter. She also covered the annual Scripps National Spelling Bee competition live for ESPN and ABC from 2008 to 2010.

Andrews made a comment equating Texas Christian University Horned Frogs football players falling on the field to their use of Nike shoes after she signed a significant endorsement agreement with Reebok in January 2011. She was virtually required to terminate the deal within a year after ESPN published new rules on employee endorsements.

In June 2012, Andrews switched from ESPN to Fox Sports, where he was named the first host of Fox College Football’s Studio program. Later, Joey Harrington and Eddie George joined her at the table to serve as analysts. Upon the launch of Fox Sports 1, she also worked as a guest anchor on “Fox College Football Kickoff” and “Fox College Saturday.”

She started reporting from the sidelines on Fox’s primary NFL broadcasting team in July 2013, taking Pam Oliver’s place. She debuted as a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” in its tenth season, where she and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy eventually placed third out of 11 couples. In February 2014, Andrews took Brooke Burke-place Charvet’s as the program’s co-host, beginning with the 18th season.
