Lucas Hernandez’s Groin injury
The Bavarian defender picked up a groin injury and was ruled out for more than 6 weeks of time. Two weeks into his recovery period, there were reports coming from German media outlet Sport1 stating that Lucas Hernandez injury setback is expected to be worse than first thought and raised concerns over his availability for the marquee event at Qatar.
Hernandez’s agent was quick enough to dismiss the reports on the same evening. In an interview with RMC, his agent confirmed Hernandez recovery is on track and there is no concern regarding his injury setback.
Back in training
Hernandez has returned at the right time to Bayern’s training as the French squad for the FIFA World Cup is set to be announced by Didier Deschamps on 9th of November. Bayern have their final Champions League fixture against Inter Milan and Nagelsmann’s team have already secured the top spot of their group which makes their final group fixture against I Nerazzurri inconsequential. Lucas Hernandez will be rested for the Champions League fixture as confirmed by Julian Nagelsmann in the press conference.

The Bavarians have three more Bundesliga fixtures left before the World Cup break and this gives Hernandez a perfect opportunity to have some match practice and get back in rhythm. Lucas Hernandez has been in fine form this season for both club and country whenever he has played and it is almost taken for granted that the 26 year old will be there with Les Bleus at Qatar to defend their title.
