Virat Kohli was dismissed for duck against Sri Lanka. Kohli has been in great form in Asia Cup 2022 scoring two fifties and now a century against Afghanistan.
Kohli scored his 100 in 53 balls, extending his impressive run of form since returning to Team India in the Asia Cup tournament. Before his century, Kohli had two fifties in the Asia Cup (59* against Hong Kong and 60* against Pakistan).
Kohli’s last hundred in international cricket came against Bangladesh in November 2019; the batter had gone a thousand days without a century before that. Kohli’s century against Afghanistan was his 71st international century, tying him with Australia’s batting legend Ricky Ponting. Only Sachin Tendulkar (100 international centuries) currently ranks higher than the former India captain.

Fans witnessed the old version of Virat Kohli at his peak as he stepped out to the spinners, pierced the field with precision, and even played a rare sweep shot.
Mujeeb Ur Rehman bowled the sixth over, and that sweep shot came in. He hit a straight six with the next ball that came down the track. On his way to a memorable century, the former India captain was dropped in the deep off Mohammad Nabi in the eighth over.
In the final five overs, Kohli reached the three figure mark with a crisp pull shot off pacer Fareed Ahmed. As part of his celebration, he removed his helmet and smiled before kissing his necklace.
He finished the innings on a high note, hitting two sixes and a four off Fazalhaq Farooqi to take India past 200.
