The defending champions and hosts of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, Australia, will play their only warm-up game against India on October 17th in Brisbane. New Zealand are the opponents for the second warm-up game against India at the same venue on October 19th.

Ireland, Scotland, Namibia and UAE can potentially play their first game at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Zimbabwe are also set to play their first game at Melbourne Cricket Ground since 2004.

The International Cricket Council on Thursday announced that teams in the first round will play their warm up matches from October 10 and 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Junction Oval in Brisbane.

Teams part of the super 12 stage will play their warm up matches on October 17th and October 19th at Allan Border Field and the Gabba.
The host nation Australia, India, England, Bangladesh, Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa and Afghanistan earner direct qualification for the group 12 stage of the Men’s T20 World Cup on the basis of their rankings as of November 2021.
All the teams other than England and Australia will play two warm up games before the main tournament. England is set to play a 7 match T20 series against Pakistan in Pakistan.
Australia will feature in three T20I series against India, West Indies and England and will play a total of 8 T20I matches before the tournament starts.
Afghanistan who enter the tournament as underdogs will play their warm up matches against Bangladesh and Pakistan on October 17th and October 19th.

The first round matches of the Men’s T20 World Cup will start on October 16th. Sri Lanka, Namibia, UAE, Netherlands, West Indies, Scotland, Zimbabwe, Ireland will battle it out in the first round and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the super 12 stage of Men’s T20 World Cup.
