Talking Points :

The main talking points before the kickoff whistle were Arsenal’s 5 consecutive wins and a fresh start to the Premier League campaign, while on the other hand, the newly recruited United Star Man-Antony was in the starting lineup for Manchester United.

Arsenal

Antony’s debut paid off well with a goal. Arsenal must have got a reality check despite playing well in the game , United took all 3 of the points.

It was a clear display of Positive body language in Manchester United’s camp after suffering pride shakening 4-0 defeat from Brentford. United has moved on well.

Story of the Match

Arsenal dominated throughout the match, but they couldn’t convert the goal. Mikel Arteta’s boys were fuming after their first-half goal was ruled out by VAR due to the foul on Eriksen.

Arsenal Captain Martin Odegaard slightly pushed United Midfielder Chrisitan Eriksen who went onto to ground after a couple of seconds. And Arsenal scored continuing that counter-attack but that goal was overturned by referee Paul Tierney.

In the 35th minute, the Brazillian winger who is brought from Ajax finished a good team goal by Man Utd and gave them the lead. Arsenal was continuously looking for an equalizer but couldn’t create such moments.

As the second half started, Arsenal looked a lot fresh and started poaching for the equalizer and they got it from the goal of Saka at the hour mark.

But Eric ten Hag’s team swiftly got back in front through Rashford, who scored his brace. It was a first-class performance from Rashford, who scored 2 and assisted for Antony’s Goal.

Possession for Arsenal; 3 points for Manchester United.

Arsenal created most of the chances in this fiery game between two rivals. Their attacks were repeatedly making life difficult for the United Defense. But United’s defense partnership of Varane and Martinez got the better of the Gunners’ attack.

In terms of possession, Arsenal had about 60% of the ball throughout the match, they completed 465 passes to United’s 310 passes.

Arsenal took 16 shots from which only 3 were on target, while United took 10 shots of which 6 were on target. It is clear that Manchester United was more clinical.

United made 17 tackles and 24 tackles while Arsenal made 14 tackles and 6 clearances. As a great Manager once said, you take all the possession, I will take 3 points. Erik Ten Hag was pleased with his side’s performance.

Speaking after post-match, both Managers said –

“Good is not good enough. We have to do better every day. “Bring the maximum to the pitch every day, individually and as a team.”

Erik Ten Hag

“What I saw is a very different Arsenal team that came here and played the way that we wanted to play. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the results that we deserved.”
