The Dallas Cowboys are expected to place Dak Prescott on injured reserve in the coming days after he sustained the injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 19-3 loss to Tampa Bay, when he struck the outstretched hand of Buccaneers defender Shaquille Barrett while attempting a pass.
Tampa Bay defeated the Dallas Cowboys 19-3 on their home pitch. During the game, the quarterback suffered a right thumb injury. An onrushing defensive lineman crushed his right thumb.
The injury was so serious that Prescott was rushed to the hospital for an x-ray. The reports suggest that a plate has to be inserted in order to protect the injured joint.

In his post-match press conference, Dak Prescott declared, “They told me it’s a much cleaner injury than it could have been.”
However, his coach, Mike McCarthy, painted a much bleaker picture of the ailment, implying it was more serious than the quarterback suggested.
McCarthy admitted, “It’s a significant injury.”
Prescott has been forced to battle injury on multiple occasions, including a severe ankle dislocation during the 2020 season. With that said, the quarterback assured fans that he would work as hard as possible to return to the field.
“It’s very disappointing,” he continued, “but injuries happen and you can’t control it; it’s just unfortunate.”
“Certainly, I’ll be missing some time. I won’t be there for my team, and that’s what hurts the most.” I’ll do what I’ve done in the past when confronted with adversity: take it in stride and do my best, and I’m confident I’ll come out of this stronger.”
