The babyfaces’ victory over Dr. Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter in a tag team match this week led to the Storm vs. Shida match. Following the match, the announcers announced Shida as Storm’s upcoming title challenger after the two women shook hands and exchanged pleasantries.
Since rising to the top of AEW’s women’s division, Toni Storm has successfully defended her title twice. At All Out, she won the Interim AEW Women’s World Title by defeating Baker, Shida, and Hayter in a four-way match.
Included in this is her most recent victory over Serena Deeb in a Lumberjack match, which came to an end when Saraya joined AEW. At “AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam” on September 21, Baker, Athena, and Deeb had all been successfully defended by Storm.

Shida was supposed to team up with Storm to take on Baker & Deeb in a tag team match on September 14, but she was ambushed by Baker & Rebel on an episode of “AEW Dark” on September 13 and was subsequently disqualified. Shida, who was returning to AEW TV this week, thus exacted revenge on Baker by pinning DMD and winning a title match against Storm.
Shida held the title for 372 days before Baker ended her reign at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view in May 2021, making her the longest-reigning AEW Women’s World Champion in history. Could Shida’s second reign as champion start the following week?
Toni Storm has been on a role since becoming the AEW Interim Women’s Champion by defeating Brit Baker. She has been dominant since then.
